My mom always made costumes for my sister and I for Halloween. On the night before Halloween she would quickly craft two costumes out of almost anything! Thank goodness nowadays we have things like blogs and Pinterest to fuel our imaginations! Here are some fun costumes I found while scouring the web for girls costumes.

DIY Boys Costumes

DSC01588

One of the most exciting aspects of Halloween for kids is picking out a costume. They can get pretty expensive when bought ready-made from a store, but there are so many great costumes you can make yourself! Many of our fall clothing styles are great as the base of DIY costumes….a solid long-sleeved tee and fleece pant are perfect for the cooler weather and all you need is a little imagination to make it into something great! Here are some fun ideas for boys costumes:

Drummer Boy Costume

Box of Popcorn

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle

Harry Potter

Lego Brick

Charlie Brown

Octopus Costume

Peter Pan

Prince Charming

Strong Man from the Carnival

Green Army Man

Old Man from “Up

Stroller Costumes

Rocket Man

Minecraft

Ninja

I love so many of these, I almost want to make my boys dress up as Peter Pan or a ninja. The problem is, as your kids get older they have definite ideas of what costume they want each year! Be sure to come back later this week and see some great ideas for girls!

Outfit of the Week: Halloween Style

By

rocker

Halloween is TOMORROW! Looking for an affordable last-minute costume? Nothing is cooler than a ROCKSTAR, and we have tons of options in this season’s collection for your little one to rock out in. Start with our black denim woven cargo pants and pair it with either the red skull printed hangdown tee or the orange guitar graphic tee. Add a bandana to make them “bad to the bone.”  Choose an inflatable guitar, a microphone or some drumsticks, whichever your child prefers. Spike their hair, and throw on some light eyeliner and cuff bracelets if you really want to finish the look.

fairy princess

When I was growing up, the most popular girls costume, by far, was a princess! We wouldn’t want to disappoint the little ladies so here’s how you can make them into pretty, pretty princesses! Our pink lettuce edge tee and lace leggings are perfect for the base of the costume…cute, girly, and comfortable enough for twirling and dancing like fairy princesses should! Add a tutu, fairy wings and wand, and voila! Fit for a fairytale!

Disney characters are popular costume choices for kids, but they can get expensive. Here is a budget-friendly option for the biggest name in Disney, MICKEY MOUSE! Pair our black long sleeve tee with a pair of our red taped tricot pants. You can glue or pin two white oval “buttons” on the front of the pants to make it more authentic. Top it off with Mickey ears and gloves, and some yellow or black shoes, and your little one is ready to go!

Outfit of the Week: Halloween Style!

By

Every Wednesday in October we’ll be posting outfits of the week that will give you some inspiration for Halloween costumes! This week, we’re creating a Batman costume for your little superhero. Start off with the Garanimals long-sleeved thermal (or for those of you in warmer areas, the plain black long or short sleeve tees would work as well). Add the black fleece pant (or any of our black athletic pants) for the bottoms. Add a cape, mask, and belt, and your little “Bruce Wayne” will be transformed into BATMAN!
