Fashion Accessory Every Mom Needs: Priceless Necklace

I’ll never forget graduating from college and moving to NYC with my boyfriend (now my husband). I was in love, love, love with him. I knew this was the man I wanted to marry, not even a question. I actually knew this on our first date, but I didn’t tell him until a lot later. :) But as our relationship got more and more serious, and we both began to realize that we wanted to get married, the question of engagement rings came up.

The trend at that time (back in 2000) was platinum and princess cut. Everyone had “that” ring. And to be honest, as a fashionista… I’ll admit it, I wanted it too. The only problem, we had a very small budget after college and working/living in NYC. Knowing our budget, I told my “fiance,” that I didn’t even need one! I was fine without one, I just wanted to be with him. And so, we continued on planning our wedding. Matthew did surprise me with an engagement ring (a beautiful one!)… and I cherish it. I know he worked very hard to save up for one. It’s priceless to me.

Fast forward to the present and I just received yet another piece of sentimental jewelry… a priceless necklace.

My youngest son Henry is my baby. Even at the age of 3 years old, he’s my baby. As every mother can attest, her baby… well, is her BABY. Henry knows this (which can be deadly!). He started school this year, and it was very difficult for me. My baby is in school. It’s crazy to me. ON the 3rd day of school, Henry came home with a very, very special necklace. It’s priceless.

This is why every mom needs one… it goes with everything, it’s always “in trend,” and it will never, ever go out of style.

Why?

Because it’s priceless.

7 Must Have Spring Accessories

Accessories are such fun and fabulous items to bring into your wardrobe!  I live for my scarves year-round. LIVE. FOR. THEM. As a matter of fact, I have a red and navy blue stripe one on right now!  What I love about accessories is that they’re easy to add-in and add-on to your existing clothes.  If you’re not looking to buy a brand new Spring wardrobe (and really, who can?), it’s just as easy and FUN to spend a fraction of the cost on some beautiful, trendy and stylish accessories.

So what are some Spring Accessories that you should have in your closet this Spring?

Here’s my Top 10…

1. Cotton Scarves – They’re lightweight.  They’re extremely soft.  And they’re a perfect accessory to wear with a tank top or a tee this spring (and summer).  Find some gorgeous colors.  Find some gorgeous patterns.  Find some gorgeous designs. Have some fun with the cotton scarves!

2. Braided Belts – I love belts! When I was in middle school, I used to have about 20 belts – all different colors. As an adult, I play it safe with brown or black leather belts, that’s about it. What I love are braided belts. They’re so trendy right now and can be worn regularly (through the loops!) or over longer tanks, tees and dresses.

3.  Straw Fedora – Oh, yes! The Fedora. It’s hot right now! What I did with this photo was add some stripes to a standard Fedora, making it extra trendy. Straw hats are classic hats for the summer weather… so make it a little more chic by choosing a Fedora this summer.

4. Nautical – Ahoy! Nautical is really big this Spring. I know most people think stripes and rope bracelets, but go for something a little bit more obvious – an Anchor Necklace.  It’s such a fun way to add some of the Nautical trend to your wardrobe, and it’s also unique enough where not everyone will be doing it.

5.  Over-sized Sunglasses – The bigger, the better! Over-sized sunglasses are the way to go this spring. Last spring is was all about the aviators. This spring it’s all about going big and bold with the shades. As a mom, I LOVE this trend because they really do hide any sleep lines around the eyes!  They’re perfect. Such a safe bet for school drop-off!

6. Leather Bracelets – Everyone always wants to know what will be hot in the jewelry department… well, looks like Leather Bracelets are topping the charts right now! I love this look because it’s a mix of rock and roll with classic-ness. Leather is such a wonderful material to make bracelets with, and it’s got a fun vibe to go along with it. Wear this with tanks and tees and even spring and summer dresses! Very cool!

7. Paisley – Last spring it was all about the tie-dye, this year it’s all about the Paisley. I love it! Paisley is a look that’s elegant, classic and beautiful. There are so many things you do with paisley… tees, scarves, skirts, hair accessories. I remember as a little girl I had a pair of Tretorn shoes with a Paisley arch on them, I loved them! It’s fun to see trends and styles come back!
