How to transition your makeup to spring and summer

I’ve always been one to change makeup colors when the spring and summer come. In the fall and winter I’m usually all about dark colors. Charcoal on my eyes. Deep bronze on my cheeks. Darker lip colors. I guess you could say I go for warmer colors in the colder months.

When the weather starts to heat up, I’m all about lighter shades and colors that make me happy. I usually just use mascara on my eyes and drop eyeshadow. On my cheeks I use a rose. And my lips, I’m all about the sheer gloss.

Seriously, my spring and summer makeup is almost polar opposite to my fall and winter’s.

Transitioning your makeup into the spring and summer months can be very easy, and also, it’s a great way to freshen up your look! I highly recommend changing things up a bit with the new season upon us in the beauty department.

Here are 6 Tips from Transitioning your Makeup to Spring and Summer:

1. Foundation: Stay away from heavy foundation by opting for lightweight mixtures or powder foundations. With the warmer months, you don’t want your foundation to look too thick, you want to make sure you use it sparingly. I love powder because it keeps it very light and goes on super easy.

2. Eyeshadow: This fall and winter, it was all about purples and greens. This spring and summer, try some pastels or go for some light blues, golds and light browns. Don’t go too dark, really lighten it up!

3. Blush: In the fall and winter, it’s OK to do heavier on the blush because you can easily balance it out by going heavy on your eyes or lips. The spring and summer are much, much different. Opt for blushes that are in the pale pink family. You just want to dab on your cheeks, don’t go crazy. Enjoy the fact that with the warmer months, you don’t need a lot.

4. Mascara: This one is an easy one. Go with a soft brown. Stay away from the classic black. You don’t want your eyelashes clumpy and too heavy in the summer sun. And always, always go with waterproof.

5. Eyeliner: I’m a lover of eyeliner. I wear it all the time, throughout all the seasons. The one thing I do to make sure I keep it fresh still in the spring and summer is opt for a gray rather than my standard black or brown. It’s an easier and a more versatile color to wear throughout the summer because it still goes with anything, but it’s a very light color. You just want something to make your eyes pop, not go crazy.

6. Lips: Go for corals and pinks this summer. Tangerine is the hottest color of the season, and there are some gorgeous shades that bring on the orange tones. I also keep talking about how pops of color are trending. Pop colors through your lips. Bright pinks. Bold reds. Yummy oranges. This is the perfect time to have a ton of FUN!
