Valentine’s Day Outfit Ideas for your Kids

I always, always, always wear red on Valentine’s Day. I don’t think I’ve ever skipped one year throughout my whole life. My mom was one of those mom’s who loved dressing us in red for Valentine’s Day, green for St. Paddy’s Day, red/white/blue for the 4th of July, orange/black for Halloween, etc. I grew up truly embracing holidays and allowing my clothing to reflect it. I even remember being away at college and my mom still sending me a red top for Valentine’s Day!

When I became a mom in 2004, I became the same exact way with my boys. William’s first holiday was Halloween… oh, man. The poor little guy had about 4 outfit changes on October 31, 2004. My mother has totally impacted me on the dressing of my sons on holidays.

So Valentine’s Day. It’s days away and I’m all about bringing in some reds and pinks for kids to help make the holiday extra special. Many kids have Valentine’s Day parties at their school, so I thought it would be fun to come up with a few ideas that you can do with your children for the 14th.

GIRLS:

Think HEARTS…

I love anything with hearts on it. ANYTHING. I love the look of hearts, they beam passion and sweetness.

Think PINK socks and tights and shoes…

I love the delicate and ultra-girl look of pink socks and tights and socks. They’re super cute and just the perfect way to bring in some shades of pink on Valentine’s Day.

Think RED…

I love red. It’s bold and beautiful and gorgeous. Nothing is sweet as pie red.

BOYS:

Think RED ties…

I love the handsomeness of bow-ties and ties. Little men look so classic and cool with some ties.

Think RED polo tee…

My son loves a handsome tee, so I’m totally into a polo tee for Valentine’s Day… red or pink!

Think RED suspenders…

My grandfather used to wear suspenders and I loved them! It’s always fun to dress up a bit for Valentine’s Day and I thought suspenders would be the perfect added touch!

Happy LOVE Day everyone!
