How to make Tie-Dye look CHIC

There aren’t many fashion trends I won’t try at least once. I’ve always said it, and I’ll say it again — not all trends are created equal. Some work for some and they don’t work for everyone. It’s just the way it is.

There’s been one trend this summer that I’ve seen a lot of young people (a.k.a. 20-somethings) rocking at the beach and at our pool club — Tie Dye. I love finding a trend that I don’t feel (right away) would work for a 30-something self (and mom) and making it work.

A couple of weeks ago when in NYC… Tie Dye came up at a discussion during lunch with some of my friends. All of us — 5 of us in total — are married with kids. Actually, there’s 21 kids between us! We sat there talking about some of the trends and I couldn’t help but bring up the whole Tie Dye phenom!

Some questions were posed… but my favorite one went a little something like this –

“Can a mom (in her 30′s) pull off Tie-Dye?”

Can it be done?

Um… absolutely! I was up to the challenge!

I created a bunch of looks for you to use as examples of how to easily incorporate some Tie Dye into your wardrode. Sometimes you need to think out of the box a bit when it comes to finding ways to fit in key trends and certain items. I had some fun putting these outfits together, so have some fun on your end, too!

Walking around town

Heading to a summer party (if on the beach, just kick off the heels!)

Coffee at the cafe

Heading out to lunch with friends

Heading to the playground

Heading to the beach or the pool

Heading to a summer wedding/special occasion

Meeting up downtown

Heading to the hairdresser/manicurist/library/coffee shop (a.k.a. relaxing!)

Heading to the gym

It doesn’t have to be head-to-toe… nor does it have to look too juvenile.

Have some fun and go with your comfort level!
